Project Objective

The objective of the Lead User Project was to build upon the Swine Cluster 1 research program by increasing the adoption of new technologies. This program was designed to enhance the competitiveness and differentiation of the pork industry throughout Canada.


Summary of the Project

The Canadian Swine Research Lead User Project includes the following 4 sub-projects:

  • Development of novel feeding strategies
  • Assessing sow lameness, longevity and temperament
  • Water sprinkling during transport
  • Non penetrating captive bolt for euthanasia
